August is the month dedicated to raising awareness, promotion, and supporting breastfeeding. An act that appears to be simple, yet it holds major importance for the newborn's physical and mental development. Considered as the key element in child health, breastfeeding promotes child protection, allowing the reduction of child morbidity and mortality worldwide, especially in underdeveloped and developing countries that do not have adequate health and quality of life conditions. It is in this context of raising awareness for the importance of breast milk in children that different entities in the field of pediatrics, specifically in the monitoring of breastfeeding, promote high-value initiatives to differentiate the medical specialty and also for population knowledge.
Together with the Colégio de Especialidade de Pediatria, Tecnosaúde has seen the birth of the 1st Webinar Cycle of the Colégio de Pediatria, with the first edition taking place on the 4th of August, under the theme “Breastfeeding: Source of Health and Immunoprotection”. After a successful first edition, there was an urgent need for a second one that took place on August 18th, with the theme “Human Milk Bank: Benefits”.
The exchange of experiences between health professionals combined with the interaction coming from more than 170 participants in the two events, led to an extremely rich month of August regarding information and zeal for a topic of high importance, especially in the Angolan reality.
Tecnosaúde's commitment to the pediatric medical class does not end in August, with two more events scheduled for September with the purpose of promulgating and making known the remarkable and significant role that the pediatric specialty plays.
The next event will take place on September 1st in the light of the theme “The History of Pediatrics in Angola”.
