Mother's Day celebration in Angola

Although each country chooses different dates throughout the year to celebrate Mother's Day, the objective is always the same: to honor our mother. Angola celebrated Mother's Day yesterday.

Mother's day was celebrated yesterday, May 3 in Angola to honor the maternal figure and motherhood. This day is celebrated annually, in Angola, on the first Sunday of May and this origin dates back to the mythological time.

Each country celebrates Mother's Day on different days, for example, many countries celebrate the anniversary on fixed dates, other countries, such as Brazil, celebrate on the second Sunday of May. Portugal, like Angola, celebrates on the first Sunday of May.

But how did Mother's Day come about?

The idea of Mother's Day started in the United States of America and came from a feminist, Anna Reese Jarvis, who in 1907 launched a movement to create the “national mothers day”, after losing her mother. The celebration began in his hometown - Grafton, Philadelphia - on the anniversary of her own mother's death.

On that day, Anna Jarvis sent 500 white carnations to the church, where the celebrations were being held. These flowers were to be used by everyone, and symbolized all the good things of motherhood.

Over the years this lady made history on Mother's Day, sending more than 10,000 carnations to the church: • red for mothers still alive • white for those already missing.
The aim of this day is to pay more attention to the importance of mothers, think about them, talk, offer gifts and discover new ways to make them happy!

In 1911, Mother's Day was celebrated in practically all of the United States of America and, in 1914, the President officially declared, on a national level, the 2nd Sunday of May as Mother's Day.

Today, Mother's Day is celebrated with little knowledge of how it all started. However, we can identify with the respect, love and honor shown by Anna Jarvis.

Although each country chooses different dates throughout the year to celebrate Mother's Day, the objective is always the same: to honor our mother.

Tecnosaúde could not let this day go by and pay homage to all mothers around the world!
